Wow...! Turning them into actual horses made them look so much better! Love too the emotions in their faces, you carried that out very well, and well done too in keeping with their colors. Not only is this a favorite, but I'd love to see where this leads. -puts on her stalker glasses and clicks the 'watch' button- More, please!
Oh, nonsense! Good art like this takes time, and I seldom unwatch people just because they're not producing anything. If I want to see more of your artwork, I'll look through your gallery and be reminded of why I watched you in the first place. Take your time, and your work will look all the better for it.
I think you overdid it on the horse look. Some artists modify the look of the ponies so they have more equine looks, but they also have very human-like qualities that distinguish them from cartoon horses with minor anthropomorphism.
What the hell does that mean? MLP isn't required to be pony style. Knot wanted to make them unique in a realistic horse figure. Don't like it? Leave, don't criticize it, because it's not what you wanted. Delete your comment, you're plain offensive, obviously you're not a true fan. Honestly, you're fucking disgusting to me.
I would just like to point out that I feel you are overreacting a bit. NektannNeightyFour was simply sharing their opinion; they happen to like ponies in a style other than this one. They didn't criticize the piece, and frankly I personally don't think they were offensive in the least. In my opinion, a person is not disgusting if they have an opinion different from mine, but that's just me.
Hmm... You might want to consider softening up the jaw muscle [masseter muscle] so it doesn't look so pronounced. It kinda has a dominating/popping effect as is. Also, in the top left profile of Celestia her muzzle kinda slenders a bit much. That might be a valid way to portray her as more feminine though: it likely only bugs me because I grew up with horses. On the less critical side I fuckin' love Sombra's design. His facial construction makes him look like a Shire horse, giant descendants of British war horses.
Hey Geheeld. I just toned down the jaw muscles ever so slightly. I also removed some of the shadow in Celestias face. I'm kind of going for a stylized look and don't want to end up too close to real horses. But I get your point. And I'm thankful for the feedback. If you have more just keep it coming.
I freakin' love Shire horses. They are so cool looking.
I completely get the stylized thing, don't want to dive down into the Uncanny Pony Valley's G1 cliff after all . For example, the way Sombra's body has been shortened and his chest and forelegs made to look disproportionately muscular is fantastic. It really makes him FEEL like a powerful and imposing dark lord-horse-pony-thing. Also the way his fetlock and hock come to sharp, almost wicked looking, points on his front right leg is pretty cool.
Giving constructive criticism on your pieces makes me feel like a from-birth quadriplegic giving gymnastic advice to an olympic medalist, nonetheless; I'm glad I could help.
So I've been reading over the comments and I'm a bit curious about the bottom left figure. A couple of people seem to think it's Luna, which I guess makes sense with the stars in the mane and darker shades, but the purple and teal in the hair along with the fact that the chains seem to be in shadow and therefore likely so too is the subject meaning a much lighter shade to coat in light which suggests, to me anyway, that only Sombra and Celestia are portrayed here. I'm not so sure anymore.
The scaling on the face seems to be all off, it's like they all have a bad case of the mumps. While I would say for all of them that the cheeks are too big and the muzzles too small, Sombra has it worse with the cheeks and not so bad with the muzzle, Celestia and Luna have it worst with the muzzles and a bit with the cheeks. Twilight looks acceptable from the angle you drew her though.
Hehe mumps. Yeah the scaling is off. But that is by choise. However I did tone down the cheeks a tad. Might tone it down more. I kind of like them like this, but we'll see. Thanks a ton for the input though. And that is not Twilight, it's Celestia, whilst "fired up". But I have already decided on a different look for that.
